I have grouped four dry card prismatic compasses together as they are similar.
Francis Barker
This compass was made by Francis Barker, London and distributed in Sydney by E Esdale and Sons'
This early compass has an unusual locking mechanism in that it seems to lock against the outside of the compass card.
This has caused various indentations on the edge of the card at various positions.
The card has the Francis Barker trade mark under the Fleur de Lis and the underside of the lid is stamped " Made in England"
Elliott Bros
Elliott Bros Strand London.
This compass is in exceptional condition and has the engraving "R.F.X.McG.Bond " on the back of the compass
Compass - Terrasse . W .Co
Mark V1
Serial No. 72115
Date 1918
Elliott Bros Strand London
Unknown Maker
This compass has no makers name and the Fleur de Lis is not like any shown on the other dry card compasses.
There is, however, " Rep by Elliott Bros" and " Rep by JH & Co Ltd March 1914" ( ???) on the outside of the lid.
The compass card seems to be quite old. Elliott Bros Strand London
