Sundial Compass in Fruitwood Box
English horizontal sundial compass in turned fruitwood box circa 1860s
The glass is domed and the compass seems to be in good order.
There are the remnants for the use of the compass on the base. 

I have now found a compass with the full description for its use as shown in the photo below.
