Compass - Jones and Sons
A beautiful green card compass in excellent condition made by Thomas Jones and Sons, 62 Charing Cross, London.
Thomas Jones had been apprenticed and worked for Jesse Ramsden from 1789.
Ramsden died around 1800 and Jones later received a Royal Appointment to the Duke of Clarence for his instruments.
Thomas was in partnership with his sons between 1831 and 1835 and this compass was from about that time.
I have found reference to Thomas Jones and Sons in the Cork Constitution Newspaper 9th Feb 1833.
