W & L E Gurley Vernier Compass with Auxilary Scope

This is Gurley's largest surveying compass with a 6 inch needle along with a Gurley auxillary sighting scope that attaches on to one of the sighting vanes.
The scope is housed in its own box and the unit dates from around the late 1870's as a best guess.
It is in great condition.
